club terrace general store

Club Terrace is a small East Gippsland town, enclosed by trees and tales of gold mining. The General Store is dark. Sagging lino floors and drifts of paper. Aluminium saucepans, lids askew. Corflute signs tell of ice creams past…The deck? Home to a swivel chair, a canvas stool half buried by leaves. Magazine racks. Some 2001 tabloids. The sun winks through dusty laserlite, showing me a sticker. Its goldtone letters read I owe, I owe – so off to work I go…

nullamunjie olives : pressing shed cafe

Nullamunjie Olives are grown on Mount Stawell, in Tongio (between Swifts Creek and Omeo, about 2 hours 15 mins drive from Cape Conran). Their extra virgin olive oil is delicious! I bought 3 bottles, so some lucky people will be getting some for birthday/late Christmas presents very soon.

The olive grove also features the Pressing Shed Cafe. We enjoyed an ample platter for 2, the vine-shaded dining area, and the attentions of two friendly canines…

Cheeses are from Maffra, olives from Swifts Creek, and fresh produce from Annie’s own garden. So totally worth the drive! I had no room for desert (lemon and olive oil cake), but my companions said it was wonderful.

Nullamunjie’s oil is perfect drizzled over bread, cold meats, and pickled vegetables. If you aren’t able to visit them in East Gippsland, you can buy their oil from Oliv in Hawthorn, or Oliveria in Prahran.

Nullamunjie Olives are located 290 Bindi Road, Tongio. Check website for opening times.
