nesting

Springtime at Cape Conran, and the Willie Wagtails have built a nest. Carefully balanced on a tree fern, kept warm by the farm truck and the corrugated iron wall. Can’t help wondering what they wove it from, but I’m guessing stuff from the shed…

chiko roll girls – traralgon

Traralgon is a large city in the Latrobe Valley. I ignore most of it, but eat dinner there en route to Cape Conran. These two Chiko Roll Girls can be found at my usual fish and chip shop.

Meet Chiko Roll Girls 2009 and 2011…

Hmmm…

These posters have NOTHING in common with the advertising Chiko is famous for – and yes, I’m rather fond of that raunchy Harley Davidson/leather/lipstick look. For those who came in late, the Girl has appeared on or near a bike since the 40s or 50s, but was given a drastic (and disappointing) restyle somewhere in the 90s. Now she has what I can only describe as a faux retro beachy vibe. At least they kept the panelvan, but this looks way too much like a Torquay surf store promo for my liking.

If anyone reading this can tell me where their favourite fish and chipper is (that still has old school Chiko Roll and or Love Bites posters up) I will definitely visit!
