I Thought It Was a Party is a compelling, funny and awkward film by Argentinian director Victoria Galardi. The balance of hotness (hello Elena Anaya – who you’ll recognise from Pedro Almadovar’s The Skin I Live In and Talk To Her) and tension (Valeria Bertuccelli as Lucia) is amazing. There’s also a touch of horror about this drama/comedy that I can’t quite put my finger on. Without saying too much, it looks at attraction, fear and relationships – as well as the burning question – for how long is your friend’s ex off limits? Screening as part of the 2014 Spanish Film Festival – don’t miss it!
