Experiencing The Waiting Room was an accidental (and rather trippy) pleasure. Even more so as I was with C, who restores mannequins and loves kitsch as much as I do. From Mary Stylianou’s exhibition media

“I walked into an Antique shop. I found a world waiting. The passage of time was ethereal. Madonnas, Christs, Buddhas, Angels, 1940s shop dummies; disparate statues and paraphernalia were all waiting; waiting for life, for the next chapter, the next joy or hurdle, just as we all are. The dream-like presence of the Antique shop consistently remains the base of my visual vocabulary…”
