ray camacho and the teardrops

What to call this wonderful music? A sweet mix of Chicano style, soul, indie funk, Latin percussion, tropical, R&B, and Cumbia. If you love these rhythms even half as much as I do you’ll have a great time. The album I’m listening to is called The Best of Ray Camacho & The Teardrops. Compiled by Pete Isaac, it covers 1968-71, and is SO worth checking out…

Ray Camacho is a Mexican American who formed The Teardrops in 1960. They toured all over, and recorded 30 albums and 75 singles! He isn’t currently playing, but is still in touch with Teardrops members. Forty years on, who knows what might happen?

Find this album on Freestyle Records, check out Jelly Jazz for more about what Pete Isaac gets upto.
