Rising costs have forced many Northcote galleries to relocate or close down. Synergy Gallery is the latest High Street creative space to be under financial pressure.
A little background…Synergy Gallery is located at 253 High Street Northcote. It began ten years ago, as a non-profit community art venue. One of the first art spaces in this area, it is now one of the last still operating. Rent rises and declining council funding have had a significant impact.
If you’ve ever attended shows here, enjoyed their life-drawing classes, held your own exhibition here, and/or want to keep galleries in Northcote alive, Synergy needs help urgently. They are planning a fundraiser, which will be held on Saturday, March 26, from 5pm to midnight.
eARTh heART ART will include a silent art auction, night market, music from Kavisha Mazella and other locals, dance, food stalls, Earth Hour festivities, and much more. The action happens at Northcote Uniting Church and Synergy Gallery, tickets are $15/$20 (kids get free entry).
If you can’t get there, I’m sure the gallery would love you just as much if you called or emailed and offered a donation…
