cocktails and mixed drinks – eddie tirado

Friends of mine were lucky enough to score this in our recent Krap Kristmas Kitchen Kringle. I’ve been hearing stories about Eddie Tirado FOR YEARS, so it was lovely to finally leaf through a copy of this book. Cocktails and Mixed Drinks was first published in 1972. If you see a copy, do buy it! Check out these sumptuous photographs by Ray Joyce…

Eddie Tirado has been called the godfather of Australian cocktails. He arrived in the 1950s, ran bars, wrote five books, trained countless bartenders and even had his own cocktail show (Good Mixing with Eddie Tirado, which screened for three years on Good Morning Australia). As a member of the Bartender’s Guild, he sought to educate the Australian palate, and made available a range of beverages not previously seen in this country.

Cheers to you, Eddie – wishing you a long and happy retirement!

About Vetti

I love good coffee, street art, tiki bars and kitsch. Adore roller derby and quiffs and vintage Hawaiian shirts. Enjoy a slice of my northside life!
