napoleone & co pear cider

This crisp and aromatic delight is made by the Napoleone family at Punt Road Wines, in Victoria’s Yarra Valley. These people have been local orchardists for 60+ years, and grape growers/winemakers for almost 30. Who better to make cider?

The perfect accompaniment to a sunny, slightly chilly day in the kitchen – I began by making spiced, stewed apples, then moved on to prepping for a MoVida-at-home-feast: pork belly with quince aioli, on a bed of carrots and onion. All of a sudden, evening appeared, dinner and dry riesling were gone (the pork belly got half a bottle, the greedy thing!), and the pear cider was equally fabulous as an after-dinner beverage.

I’d certainly buy this again – and love the fact that all fruit used is locally grown.

DYING to try this. My booze supplier at work is getting some in for me.

Have you had the Swedish cider ‘Rekorderlig’? Their pear cider is particularly scrummy. Available at Dan Murphy’s I think.

  2. Paul: So good – bright and aromatic…Have heard wonderful things about Rekorderlig, look forward to getting my hands on some!

  3. Glad to hear you like it!
