i heart the estelle

Always nice to see places I love getting some press! Joffa et moi celebrated our anniversary at The Estelle last night, with a beautiful beetroot salad, barramundi plate, and sliced beef with capers. Our Italian wine was delicious, the pannacotta sublime, and the Tasmanian sticky very moreish. Fabulous folks looking after us too.

So far, have sampled lunch and dinner here – will be back for breakfast shortly!

As seen in the Northcote Leader, December 16, 2009. Sad that the Northcote Bowl’s lanes are now tables, but at least they are still surrounded by happy Northside types. I had no idea until reading this article that my suburb is actually a “vegetarian stereotype”, or that one “gourmet success” can “stamp out” such a reputation. How many overused descriptors can the average newspaper article contain without self-combusting? Sigh…

Forget the article, get yourself down The Estelle!

About Vetti

I love good coffee, street art, tiki bars and kitsch. Adore roller derby and quiffs and vintage Hawaiian shirts. Enjoy a slice of my northside life!

At a recent holiday party I had insider info on a particular “civic” subject. The others were commenting from the position of knowing what they thought they knew by newspaper articles. What is it with writers? Is it some need to be amusing at the expense of truth?

  2. Pasadena: either that or an unwillingness to bother composing actual sentences, when one could just link up a whole heap of cliches. So much room for improvement…

  3. Thanks for the recommendation! I had lunch there and agree that The Estelle establishes a new degree of fabulousness on High St!

  4. fitzroyalty: I am totally in love with this place! Haven’t managed breakfast there yet, hope to do so this week. Fabby pics in your review btw…
