craft victoria: gracia haby & louise jennison

A beautiful array of works – prints, watercolours, postcard collages, artists books, collaged books. Both individually produced and collaborative pieces star in this show, loaded with nostalgia, keepsake objects, and travel references. As Herman Hesse wrote in Der Steppenwolf

“I can throw open to you no picture-gallery but your own soul. All I can give you is the opportunity, the impulse, the key. I help you to make your own world visible. That is all.”

The worlds these immensely talented artists make look both forward and back, to both inner and outer landscapes. Exactly what these curious places mean I am not sure, but I am enjoying the journey around them very much. Simply THE BEST use of ephemera I’ve ever seen. Tres sumptuous and thought-provoking!

This show runs until 28th November at Craft Victoria. Check out Gracia Haby’s blog here, and Louise Jennison’s here. More Gracia and Louise collaborative goodness can be found here.

Inside Out has a great interview (and lots of pics of the show) with both artists here.
