tetsunori kawana

This legend of Japanese sculpture has created a work of utter awesomeness – if you haven’t sauntered thru the Grollo-Equiset Garden (y’know, out the back of NGV International, via the Leonard French glass ceilinged Great Hall) to take a look, you really should. Larger in scale than any ikebana work I’ve ever seen, Five Elements – Water is constructed of many 7m lengths of bamboo. Photographs don’t do it justice, and on July 26, it will be dismantled.

About Vetti

I love good coffee, street art, tiki bars and kitsch. Adore roller derby and quiffs and vintage Hawaiian shirts. Enjoy a slice of my northside life!

  1. So much better then the sweeping gesture of arranged plastic flowers my mother has above her bed post.

  2. Pasadena: much evil has been done in the name of flower arranging…Kawana is definitely using his powers for good
