bookstores galore

Loving the fact that new ones are popping up a saunter away from my house…

Checked out Allsorts yesterday – loads of secondhand goodness, hints of vintage & antiquarian, still setting up but well worth a visit! Look for the striped sign outside 275 High Street.

Selections from the crime section at Allsorts. $4.50 delights!

I’m a big fan of Colette’s Place – I go for vintage comics, sweet recipe books, and lurid cover crime stories. If you love kiddie annuals from the 50s-70s, check out the front section. Find it at 503 High Street.

There’s also the book grocer, which is a remaindered book shop. Most softbacks are $8, most hardbacks $12 – stock is as new, good selection AND you can sit and have a coffee or glass of vino, what’s not to like? Not edgy and arty like (oui, my favourite) Horton of Smith Street, but still worth a look. 263 High Street.

There is another bookshop opening in High Street, but it’s still at the newspaper covered window stage. Watch this space!

About Vetti

I love good coffee, street art, tiki bars and kitsch. Adore roller derby and quiffs and vintage Hawaiian shirts. Enjoy a slice of my northside life!
