After Sticky, I met the delightful T, and we went to the National Gallery. The Felton Society was having an evening champagne do. Focussed on a spectacular exhibition – yes, it’s Art Deco 1910-1939. Imagine a major show, covering the opulence of the Roaring Twenties to the Depression Thirties, Hollywood, architecture, painting, jewellery and photography (not to mention furniture, advertising, cars, Josephine Baker, photography…). Anyhoo, consider me tres excited about viewing this extravaganza. Running from June to October, I can’t wait!
Another exciting thing: for art deco lovers like moi, the NGV is publishing a book. It will contain a heap of walking tours of Melbourne, covering our most significant deco buildings, sculptures and murals.
