the scent of a new generation

This men’s cologne was on sale in 1973 – never heard of it until I saw this ad in Woman’s Day (17/9/73).

Wonder what it smelled like? Confession time: in the 80s and early nineties, I was a very perfumed young thing, and wore everything from Chanel to the more metrosexual men’s colognes (YSL Jazz anyone? ). Today? I love Elizabeth Arden’s Green Tea for summer, and Lush’s ginger for winter. I would dearly love to wear a fragrance called Trouble…

About Vetti

I love good coffee, street art, tiki bars and kitsch. Adore roller derby and quiffs and vintage Hawaiian shirts. Enjoy a slice of my northside life!

I have always loved aftershave. Dad’s paco rabanne was one of my favourite smells. I believe that aftershave is out of fashion now, because I so rarely smell it on men anymore. When I do, it can really turn my head. As a 20ish gal coming out, I would always wear aftershave if i was going out dancing. I wore perfume at times too, but it was never my first choice. These days, the ocassional spray of CK is all I go for. Not very often at all.

Vetti – i was reading somewhere there’s perfumers now that specialise in recreating old scents.. if you *really* want to dab on a little Trouble, I’m sure that’s the where you’d start looking 😉

  3. kj: i tend to wear more fragrance in summer than winter, and a lot more understated than what i used to wear (miss dior, diorissimo, and dolce vita were particular faves)

i find a lot of the newer releases are either celeb vehicles (so uncool), way OTT, or boring

m1k3y: boucheron have made a women’s fragrance called trouble, but it sounds too opulent/floral/oriental por moi to wear these days – perhaps i should blend my own 😉
