fashion plates

After the slightly icky Efco shorts pic, I thought it only fair to show some ladies fashions. These stylish Romans were snapped in Princess Galizine’s Via Veneto showroom (National Geographic,June 1970). Princess Irene is the figure in white, with the kicky ponytail do. The models are wearing her silk organdy dinner collection, and preparing for the 1969 spring show. IMHO, the chick on the left drew the short straw – huge sleeves, nasty gold doodads, and those white shoes…Princess I looks too much like a dental nurse, so today’s winner must be Miss Dot. Killer bob, and cute dress. Pity about the belt, but you can’t have everything. Note the sweet G-shaped podium they are standing on…chrome edges and all!

I’m so relieved that my new job does not involve fashion – 10 years in the rag trade is more than enough!

About Vetti

I love good coffee, street art, tiki bars and kitsch. Adore roller derby and quiffs and vintage Hawaiian shirts. Enjoy a slice of my northside life!
