craft victoria: shoe show
October 29, 2009
Saunter into Craft Victoria to see the work of six emerging shoemakers. These experimental Melbourne folks breathe new life into another “dying art”. Layering, embroidery, spats, folds, plaiting, Japanese 70s fashion, shoe trousers, classic men’s footwear? Yes, this show is all this and more! Bravo! On until 28 November.

More about the practitioners here:
Phong Chi Lai – what can I say – love ALL your work!
Emma Greenwood – our gal in Clifton Hill…what she does with crochet and stamps is beautiful…
Tim Tropp – Mr. ShoeTrousers himself
April Phillips – shoes for your inner fictional character
Emma Shirgwin – simple but quirky wondrousness
James Roberts – refined bespoke shoes for the ultimate gentleman. Loving the handcoloured leathers!

I can’t imagine anything that’s better – the world is ours as long as we’re together…

Breakfast at Mixed Business – out front, with newspapers, warm jackets, and plenty of coffee

Checking out the Bugatti show at NGV

Back at ours – homebaked anzacs, apple friands, and cups of tea
The song? Here’s two swingin’ versions – Young Rascals, and Aretha’s

Like Roger and Pete said…I really wanna know. Backing vocals by Keith and Andy. Snaps by moi in Dummett Crescent.

I could hear this song in my head when I took the pictures, and looking at them now brings it right back.

I sauntered by Dummett Crescent on Friday, to take snaps of the big blue letters. I’ve known about them for ages, but somehow never paid them a visit.

Right behind moi? This stencilled delight.

Anyone with more information, please leave me a comment…?
