Saturday morning coffee craving – 4 clams gets you a swell double shot at Coffee Select, good tunes, and the scent of beans roasting. The canvases aren’t bad either…No big sixes, but you can’t have everything. They are by Jo O’Brien, photographic artist and stylist..

On the tram home after a VERY long day, and what do I see? Patent pink stiletto gel, wobbling about. When I left work , it was definitely 2009, but her outfit was tragically 80’s. Girlfriend, it’s time to move ON! You’re not Madonna from times past, okay? And I don’t want you drunkenly crashing through my newspaper again, alright? I’ll end up in the coronary care unit, and it will seriously ruin my evening…

In dreams I’m doing things a little differently than when I’m awake. This is the year that I make some more changes, and mesh the two together. Watch this space…it won’t happen overnight, but it WILL happen.

Speaking of boy racers – check out the Tryane II. A three-wheeled African Mahogany masterwork! They didn’t make Citroens quite like this in ‘69, but I like it anyway.

I’m tired. Surrounded by the slick, the shiny, the blingness, I find comfort in mismatched dinettes, scuffed edges, and peeling paint. The visual equal of bootleg records, a lived-in roughness that soothes me.
Aurally, I imagine these grooving in Dylan’s 60’s basement, or Buddy Holly’s garage studio…

mitten fortress

It’s been a strange and turbulent week, I’ve swung by here a few times and not been able to string thoughts together. Which, for moi, is a rare thing. Anyhoo, am planning a few quiet days to (hopefully) get some energy back. Words help – I’ve been reading lots of zen, haiku, and sufi poetry, and am looking forward to my shiatsu this afternoon. Right now though, the idea of a mitten fortress sounds very comforting.
