What does your last 48 hours say about you?
Forget the matchless comfort and smooth-running experience of daily living – the distinctive features of my last few days have been anything but luxurious. Hoping for sunnier skies tomorrow…
A1 deluxe blogposts don’t come from staring blankly at the screen, so I’ll be going now. Don’t wait up, it may be a few days before I get back.
Happy New Year a little early,
Vetti

A sad day for cabaret and music lovers everywhere – Eartha Kitt has hung up her cha cha heels for the last time. Traffic will no longer stop for her, but our memories of the most exciting woman in showbiz will burn ever bright.

“I do not have an act. I just do Eartha Kitt…I want to be whoever Eartha Kitt is until the gods take me wherever they take me.”
I love you Eartha. Your courage to stand up for what you wanted to say, and how you wanted to live was and is the stuff of legend.

…well, almost. I’m so not having the best Xmas ever, but the love of a sweet man (yes Joffa, I’m talking about you) is keeping me from a messy finale. After a wondrous barbeque dinner, a few red wines and some rum balls, I’m feeling almost human. Hope all is well in your world blogpals?

Went to the Manque Design garage sale with Missy K yesterday. Lots of bargains, and the joy of a communal change room. Here’s some choice comments…
“Ooh, those velvet pants make you look like a tawny lion – but you’re not a Leo?” – Madame is correct – I’m an Aquarian
“Does this make me look taller?” – Not really, just a little wider – but in a good way
“Do you work here?” – No madame, I just happen to love this label, which occupies a large chunk of my wardrobe space
So, this tawny lion bought a stack o garments, and came home very happy.
How did those Stranglers lyrics go?
Golden brown, texture like sun…never a frown with golden brown…?
Sounds good, doesn’t it?

I WAS going to roller derby tonight. Been talking about it all week! However, having been out all day in the rain with Missy K and Lola, all I want to do is stay home with the Mr, some fish and chips, and some good wine.
If you want to go see the Toxic Avengers duke it out with the Dead Ringer Rosies, head down to Puckhandlers – cnr Blake and Davis Street, Reservoir. Doors 7pm, action 8pm.

Howdy blogpals!
Christmas shopping was the task du jour – here’s my local shopping guide:
In.cube8r : jewellery from Melbourne artists – I found a gorgeous Sharee Humphrey necklace for my Mum here, and would love some of her stuff por moi – especially the Lovebird necklace with the teal cabochon (hint, hint…)
Salvation Army : vinyl with cover art to die for – relocation sale @ Smith St, further 20% off everything!

Provocative rhythms of dance – as Joffa just said “where’s that hand going?”

Sankofa : tribal textiles, jewellery, baskets and bags – ethical trading from African nations
Bebida : sustenance when required! Fabby croque monsieur, sounds, and rekkid cover art in the toilettes…Pouffes, bullfighter art, Kate Bush and Avalanches vs the rain outside? Lovely.

Q: “Vetti, how will you celebrate your 30th? I’ll bet you’ll be even more energetic and rock-solid than ever…?”
A: “Babe, I’m not the sort of gel who stays 30 forever – been there, done that…Did you know I was born in ‘73?”

Ahhh, the weekend continues. Quantum of Solace At Westgarth, and Livebird’s birthday drinks at Deco Bar, where the astroturf meets red club armchairs…
What’s a girl to think?
Quantum of Solace is a Bond film without nookie, without Bond girls – Strawberry Fields and Camille Montes DON’T even come close – thankfully there’s still Judi Dench…And Daniel Craig, and Giancarlo Giannini. Ford cars? Sigh…Don’t even get me started on the pretentious title. Yes, Bond is a cold customer after revenge, but less steel and more sex would have been welcome.
