sweet little lies
October 15, 2007
Here’s the best thing in Sunday’s Age and yes, it is a big chunk o quotation:
According to a survey cited by London’s Sunday Times newspaper, we tell 20 lies a day, from white lies to whoppers. As they say, those who say they never lie, are lying.
It’s not just humans playing the deceit game. Koko, a captive gorilla at California’s Stanford University, was schooled in 1000 sign words, from “foot” to “hungry”. One day, blind with rage about something, Koko ripped his sink from the wall. “Who did this?” signed his captors, who already knew. “Rabbit done it” signed Koko, framing his stuffed toy.
Reading this made me think (and laugh) a lot yesterday.

firstly i’m gonna put on what i call my Gizo hat and invite you to use the Block Quote tag for your quotations..
secondly, speaking as someone born in teh Year of the Rabbit, we’re sick of being blamed for everything – even if we do prolly deserve it
m1k3y: yeh, i must get round to that – you rabbit year people really do stress the importance of fine detail
its common knowledge that rabbits are sensitive/anxious creatures…
thanks, m1k3y, I’m touched to have inspired one of your hats..
gizo (and m1k3y): i am curious to see what this hat looks like – terribly fond of hats, you know…
this is a hat beyond description.. beyond comprehension… beyond
m1k3y: does this gizo hat really exist?
It has a rabbit on it….
the hat has a rabbit IN it!!!
hey rocky, watch me…
now, where did i leave the thing, i swear it was right here a second ago
I do so love Rocky and Bullwinkle – was watching some clips just now on the interwebs…
Some pedantry involved with rabbits it seems…or people born under that sign or some such malarkey…:-)
Joffa: think we’ve already covered that in earlier comments, but nice to have you aboard
